Some malady
As with her other murder mysteries, Louise Penny’s The Grey Wolf dwells on the consequences of misjudgment, darkness, evil. A monk so fanatical about cleansing the sins of our world he resorts to murder. A trusted lifelong friend betrays the Inspector. Still, Penny keeps her faith in Rosa (the pet duck) and everyday choices that lean towards good. The politician’s assistant previously involved in contemptible behavior takes a new stance. A son changes course and risks all to save the city’s water from malicious contamination. His handwritten notebooks with the right evidence discovered at just the right time prepare us for the sequel. We wait, we wait.
