Born to express

Christian theology, Norman Mailer suggests in Pieces and Pontifications, we can imagine as a spiritual technology. An imperfect God is entangled in battle with other Gods for the future of humankind - and can be disappointed. In doubt, we turn from God to Freud to recognize ourselves, particularly the turbulent unconscious. But does he who diagnosed a repressed society in the early 1900s have anything to say to us, we who live by expressing?
