Never in a hurry
The title of this essay collection (Your God is Too Small) puts the reader on defensive. How indeed, J. B. Phillips asks, do we imagine the fullness of the universe. Where do we stumble, how do seas begin and end, what does prayer do. Goodness, beauty, and truth we value but they remain abstract and lean towards the mild. They will not build spiritual muscle. Along with William James, and C.S. Lewis, Phillips suggests worshipping defines the human.
